About Nancy

As a Divorce Coach, I Can Help You Through the Process.

I have been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 1986. I worked as a custody mediator/evaluator for six years until budget cuts sent me to juvenile probation. It was there that I saw first-hand the destruction that divorce can wreak on a family.

In my personal life, as well as in my many years of professional experience, I have witnessed the profound impact and the lasting pain and damage that can result from divorce. It is like a death, and you may experience similar feelings of grief and loss. As a divorce coach, I can teach you how to cope with those feelings and adapt to a new way of being in the world. I will help you build resiliency.

The state of California recognized “no-fault divorce” thirty years ago. But in my experience, one partner usually blames the other for the end of a relationship. Often, both parties bear responsibility. But the fact remains that holding on to anger, fear, and shame can slow down or even prevent your ability to forgive yourself and to forgive your partner for whatever went wrong. Whether you choose to pursue a collaborative divorce or not, I can help you make divorce less painful.

As a divorce coach, I tell my clients that the opposite of love is not hate. The opposite of love is indifference. By experiencing and working through your feelings, no matter what they are, you will find yourself more able to get to that place of indifference. Yes, you may still have feelings left for your for your ex, but those feelings won’t be running your life.

I am passionate about the need to protect children from the negative aspects of divorce. Children do not need to worry about money. They don’t need to think that they are to blame. They don’t need to hear your arguments, meet your new lover, or carry messages back and forth. They need to be loved and reassured. They need to know that you love them, and you will all get through this together.
